"Create-your-own-curriculum" guide for Reading:

1. Choose a few books you think your child will enjoy
    reading on his/her own.
2.  It is better to choose books that are too easy, rather
than too hard.  Remember, you want reading to be
     enjoyable!

This list focuses on the reading needs of beginning and primary readers.  Once this list is exhausted, the child (or parent) should choose readers from the literature booklist or from other subject areas.
